Exercise Physiologists and Physiotherapists are both university qualified allied health professionals, and often work as part of a collaborative team with doctors and other allied health professionals to assist in patient health care.
Exercise Physiologists complete health and fitness assessments, and develop exercise programs to assist clients achieve their treatment and rehabiliation goals. Exercise Physiologists guide and monitor their clients through their individualised programs. Exercise Physiologists understand the completxities of living with a chronic condition, injury, disability, and pain, and provide education and support to their clients to help them adpot a physical activity and movement into their daily routine.
Physiotherapists are experts in assessing both new and old injuries, providing treatments to reduce pain and improve the way you move. They also can help manage many health conditions. To do this physiotherapists employ a number of treatment techniques. Good physiotherapy always involves education so that you understand your problem and how to get better. Physiotherapy treatment techniques to reduce pain and rehabilitate injuries can include education, joint mobilization and manipulation, massage, dry needling, taping and most certianly exercise programs.
